Land Strateg with Operational and Team Leadership Responsibilities

Do you want meaningful work that makes a difference in people's lives? Welcome to the municipality that is far from average!

Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 inhabitants and over 6,400 employees.

The Community Planning Administration manages and develops both urban and rural areas within the municipality. We have the overall responsibility for planning and creating the physical, legal, and business conditions for a safe and good living environment in Botkyrka. Our 125 employees work to enable good housing and an attractive local environment regardless of where one is in life.

The Position and Responsibilities

We are looking for a land strategist with operational and team leadership responsibilities for the Community Planning Administration.

The role suits you if you want to work both strategically and operationally with the municipality's land holdings and contribute to sustainable community development in Botkyrka.

As a land strategist, you are responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating the municipality's land issues. You lead the work within land management and have close collaboration with the land and development manager as well as with the employees in the unit. The work includes both long-term planning and practical implementation where you alternate between legal, economic, and technical issues related to land and properties.

Your main responsibilities:

  • lead and coordinate the work of land management and develop routines and working methods
  • work with the purchase, sale, and lease of land and properties
  • prepare materials for budget, operational plan, and follow-up
  • negotiate and establish agreements, such as land allocations, leases, and property rights
  • participate in development projects and represent the municipality as a landowner in contacts with companies, private individuals, and other administrations
  • manage property economic and property legal issues, including property taxation.

The municipality is one of the largest landowners in Botkyrka, which means you have a central role in ensuring that the land is used, managed, and developed in the best way.

Your assignment includes driving processes related to land allocations, sales, and leases, as well as participating in development projects where the municipality either builds on its own or in collaboration with private actors.

The position offers a broad and varied assignment where you have the opportunity to influence Botkyrka's future development. You will be part of an engaged administration that works to create attractive, safe, and sustainable living environments for the municipality's inhabitants.

We Offer You

You will be part of the Community Planning Administration, where we together plan, develop, and manage Botkyrka's physical environment – from urban to rural. In the land and development department, 15 dedicated colleagues with various competencies in land and development work: project managers, construction project managers, land managers, and land strategists. The land unit currently consists of 4 employees. We have a culture characterized by collaboration, dialogue, and a shared responsibility to contribute to sustainable community development. The department is entering an exciting phase where we continue to develop our working methods and digital processes to create an even more efficient and service-oriented operation.

With us, you will have the opportunity to develop in a role that combines responsibility and variety.

We offer flexible working hours with annual working time and flex time, the possibility of remote work, wellness grants, and vacation swapping. Our premises are centrally located in Tumba, close to good communications, in an environment that encourages collaboration and knowledge exchange.

We value the balance between work and leisure and believe in a workplace where engagement, respect, and curiosity allow you to thrive and grow with us.

You Who Apply to Us

You have a university degree in surveying, community building, or property law. Other education combined with relevant experience may also be considered equivalent. You have several years of experience working with land issues or in land and development, as well as documented knowledge in property law and property economics.

Other requirements for the position:

  • Experience in leading, coordinating, or developing an operation.
  • Experience in preparing agreements, decision materials, and service writings in Swedish.
  • Experience working in digital systems related to land and property issues.
  • Experience collaborating in project or team-based environments with multiple actors.

We consider it an advantage if you have:

  • Experience working with municipal land management or development projects.
  • Experience in land allocation processes, property taxation, or similar property-related assignments.
  • Experience working in a politically governed organization.
  • Experience in project management within the community building area.

The role involves leading and coordinating the work within land management while also working operationally with complex land and property issues. To succeed, you need to create structure in processes that often contain legal, economic, and technical parts. You work methodically, weigh different interests against each other, and make decisions that hold over time.

The work involves many contacts both internally and externally, which requires you to build trust, create clarity in dialogue, and adapt your communication according to the situation and recipient. The role suits you if you enjoy collaborating in projects where multiple actors are involved and can maintain stability and focus even when circumstances change or the pace is high.
